Wind power is the fastest way to a clean and sustainable energy consumption

The United Kingdom (UK) committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions under the Climate Change Act 2008. According to this law, the UK is required to reduce its CO2 emissions by at least 100% (net-zero) compared to 1990 levels by 2050 and in 2019, with a large majority, the Danish Parliament passed a binding and ambitious Climate Act, requiring Denmark to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030. By 2050, we aim to achieve climate neutrality.

To meet this goal, it will be necessary to increase the capacity of wind power. We need more, larger, and better wind turbines, both onshore and offshore. Wind power is the fastest way to achieve clean and sustainable energy consumption.

Project Development Today, it is already profitable to install wind turbines on commercial terms, even in many locations where it previously did not make economic sense without state subsidies. Wind Estate understands the opportunities in the wind market so well that we can offer a fruitful collaboration with all stakeholders who want to be part of today’s and tomorrow’s wind energy supply.

The development of wind turbine parks is often a complex and time-consuming process. The journey from idea to construction is often long and winding, but we have many years of experience handling all project phases. This includes screening suitable wind turbine areas, practical project design, construction, operation, and collaboration with all stakeholders, such as landowners and authorities.

Our goal is to be your competent partner in collaboration. We take care of all the practical, technical, and legal aspects, especially in the often lengthy and intricate regulatory processes.

Many considerations must be taken into account in wind turbine project development, especially regarding the landscape, nature, animals, and the people affected by the turbines and their operation. The regulatory process involves long, open, and democratic processes where citizens and other stakeholders have the opportunity to be heard. In this process, we are a competent and experienced partner, ensuring that both laws and regulations and budgets and deadlines are met.

Wind Estate has the expertise.

Below, we describe the processes from taking a position on the individual municipality’s ambition level for climate goals to the grid connection of completed wind turbine parks.

Screening

  • Area and landscape considerations
  • Spatial minimum requirements
  • Other planning interests

Project Design

  • Optimize layout patterns
  • Calculate noise, shadow casting, and energy production
  • Maintain distance to residential/urban areas
  • Comply with wind turbine type approvals
  • Conduct photorealistic visualizations

Regulatory Process

  • Proactive interaction with municipal administrations
  • Project notification
  • Environmental assessment
  • Public consultation, EIA reports, local plans, and municipal plan supplements
  • Apply for necessary exemptions
  • Apply for building permits

Wind Turbine Procurement

  • Select suitable wind turbines, considering noise, shadow casting, etc.
  • Contract with wind turbine manufacturers for the purchase of wind turbines
  • Contract with service providers for long-term service agreements

Construction Phase

  • Design and manage construction, including financial management, time management, and safety on the construction site
  • Enter into grid connection agreements with energy companies
  • Contract with subcontractors for roads, foundations, and internal electrical grids
  • Register declarations/subdivide wind turbine parcels
  • Ongoing collaboration with landowners
  • Ongoing reporting to wind turbine owners
