Eight turbines with up to 230-metre tip heights are planned for installation, with indicative rotors of 162 metres and 149-metre hub heights unlocking power ratings of 7.2MW apiece.
A 15MW battery energy storage system is also proposed in scoping documents.
Construction is planned 5km north-east of the village of Cairnryan on the shore of Loch Ryan, within an area of commercial forestry plantation. An up to 18-month build programme is expected to get underway in 2028, subject to planning consent and grid availability.
SSE Renewables has commenced construction at the 49.9MW Aberarder wind farm in the Scottish Highlands. A total of 12 Vestas turbines are due to be installed at the Allocation Round 5 project, which is expected online in 2026.
